Hi all I am planning on taking a telemark trip this Sunday to Mt Twynam. I tele skied for the first time last weekend, unreal, also hashtag so shit at it, in that I fell down multiple times, but hey it was audibly fun, in that I laughed a lot. So for all you interested hashtag intrepid XC skiers out there, this weekend the snow looks decent and the weather will be fine, the perfect opportunity to fulfill unrequited dreams of telemark glory.
The plan will be to leave Canberra super early ~430am Sunday morning to avoid the Perisher crowds. Drive up to Guthega for an 830am start, skike (as in "ski-hike") up to Twynam and then ski the dramatic 7ish km downhill back to Illawong bridge before making quick getaway back to the Bezza around 3ish. The trip is fairly long and we will be doing it at a reasonable clip. The telemark skis are lightweight and move fast. But you will need to be reasonably fit to do this trip. Please detail your skiing experience in registration. I've only set this up for 4 places but I would consider opening it to more ppl depending on interest. Just email me.
